NAMI Provider Education is a no-cost, 15-hour program of in-service training taught by a team consisting of an adult with mental illness, a family member and a mental health professional.
NAMI Provider Education introduces mental health professionals to the unique perspectives of individuals living with mental illness and their families. You’ll develop enhanced empathy for their daily challenges and recognize the importance of including them in all aspects of the treatment process.
Coming to the Emergency Room for a psychiatric crisis is often a very traumatic event. Patients and their family members are often left feeling confused, alone, and unsure of the future.
NAMI Connects offers an additional level of support in inpatient, hospital settings to patients and family members affected by mental illness. NAMI Connects staff are comprised of individuals and family members who have been affected by mental illness, and work directly with hospital staff to help people in need. This provides empathetic listening, information through local resources, and promotes positive attitudes towards engagement of mental health services through shared experience with mental illness.
