Author, Charrie Hazard

Saturday, March 13, 2010
9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

at NAMI OC
1810 E. 17th Street, Santa Ana, CA 92705

Charrie has come to NAMI Orange County from Florida
to talk to us about her new book, "Falling Into The Sun".

Her neighbor's suicide and her son's increasingly violent outbursts prompt protagonist Kate Nardek to seek family counseling.  In her quest to vanquish her son's demons, she must face down her own, forcing her to rethink her beliefs about mental illness, good and evil, death and, finally, her own self-worth.

A compelling, expertly crafted work of personal and philosophical crisis written with intensity and a memoir-like intimacy. Falling into the Sun resonates mystery and reawakening and will unleash a passionate reexamination of everything you know and believe.

-- Anna Di Bella, 2004-2006 President,
The National League of American Pen Women, Inc.

NAMI OC Membership

Why Your MEMBERSHIP
in NAMI Orange County is  IMPORTANT!

By Frank Woodard, ESQ.

There are several realities that wake me up and concern me everyday. The reality of the horrific impact mental illness has on the mentally ill and their families, the reality of the scarcity of effective programs and resources to deal with mental illness, the reality that three times more mentally ill people are in U.S. prisons than in mental health hospitals, and the reality that mental illnesses make up four of the top ten most debilitating diseases on the face of the earth.  While these are seemingly overwhelming problems, my own involvement with NAMI OC has created optimism and confidence that there is a brighter future ahead. We are challenging and transforming the status quo.

NAMI OC has and continues to create big shifts in public attitudes, create family and client hope through various NAMI OC programs and change governmental policies regarding mental illness. Together we can ensure that better days are on the horizon for the treatment of mental illness.

Your continued membership in NAMI OC is critical
to support our efforts

Occasionally, you may receive additional donation requests from
NAMI California
or NAMI National, but your
membership donation must be made to NAMI Orange County in order to keep your membership active in NAMI OC.

New methods of donating to NAMI OC have been developed. For example, you can now make a series of monthly donations using your credit card or make one single credit card donation.
